Brief History of MAHAFA
MAHAFA (Formerly known as AfricareMeds) Organization was founded by Chief, Elder
Richard Chibuna Anyanwu, a Registered Nurse and his wife Lolo Gertrude Adanma Anyanwu,
also a nurse in 2002. The primary objective of this grassroots organization is to provide much
needed medical care to the indigents of Ibo tribe in Nigeria.
The birth of MAHAFA is from the concept of helping those less fortunate indigents who could
not afford to help themselves.
MAHAFA exists to promote better life for the indigents of Ibo tribe in Nigeria. The organization
actively addresses and works on issues of health care: Dealing with diseases such as
Hypertension, Diabetes, Malaria, Typhoid, Insomnia, Arthritic and Chronic debilitating pain
and providing immunizations and educating the indigenes on the prevention of many tropical
diseases.
Accomplishments
Over the past Ten (10) years, MAHAFA (Formerly known as AfricareMeds) members have
traveled to Nigeria many times for free medical services to the indigents and in 2008, MAHAFA
started bi-annual medical visits to Nigeria. We have provided medical care to over ten thousand
(10,000) indigents of Ibo tribe in Nigeria providing treatments for Hypertension, Diabetes,
Malaria, Typhoid, Insomnia, Arthritic and chronic pain, and Educational teaching on prevention
of many tropical diseases.
A borehole that provides clean drinking water for the indigents of the Ibo Tribe was paid for in
part by your donations and contributions to MAHAFA (Formerly known as AfricareMeds).
Goals
Progressively increase the frequency of visits to Nigeria from yearly to every six-months and
finally every quarter.
Build and Maintain FREE medical clinics in most of the towns and local governments , ensuring
year-round medical care for the indigents.
Provide a clean water supply. The dirty and untreated water supply in Nigeria is the primary
source of illnesses such as typhoid.
Provide immunizations to the children. Lack of early immunization is the cause of early
childhood death.
